T. Andreas & Co., Chicago - 1883 [571] DANIEL FOLLANSBEE was born in Grafton County, N.H., February 24, 1813. He learned the trade of carriage making. Upon reaching man- hood, he came west to Michigan, and arrived in this county at St. Clair October 1, 1833, and began working at his trade. There being little demand for carriages at that early day, he went to work at the trade of millwright and since then, for a period of about fifty years, he has worked at the trade. His first visit to Port Huron was October 6, 1833. He came in a canoe. In 1856, he came to Port Huron to re- side, and since then has resided here, and has lived in the county half a century, and is one of the oldest settlers now living here. At one time, he could call by name every man living in St. Clair County. He has held the office of County Clerk, and served as Under Sheriff fourteen years. He married Miss ELIZA M. DAVIS, a native of Grafton County, N.H., May 22, 1837. They have had eight children, only two of whom survive, SUSAN, now Mrs. WILLIAM R. ANDRUS, and FRANK, both living in Port Huron. ===========================================================================
