ELLIOTT, Inspector of Customs, is a native of Maine, and was born March 4, 1837; he grew up and attended school there; he came to Michigan in 1857, and came to Port Huron the same year; he entered the employ of EDDY, AVERY & Co., and remained with this old and well estab- lished lumber company for nineteen years. In June, 1876, he was ap- pointed Inspector of Customs for the Huron District, and since then, for the past seven years, has held that position.
