EDDY IRONS departed this life at his late home on the bluff at the head of Pentwater Lake, Sunday evening April 21st at 11 p.m. In many ways he had a very remarkable career. He was undoubtedly the first lake captain that sailed into the Chicago harbor. This was long before there was a lighthouse at this point, and where the proud city now stands there was nothing but low marshy grounds. CAPT. IRONS had reached the ripe age of 95 years, 1 month and 10 days. The relatives who reside here are a sister, DIANNA ABBOTT, a daughter-in- law, Mrs. CAPT. ORRIE IRONS and a grand- son, CAPT. EDDY IRONS, who left almost two weeks ago for Ashland where he is in command of a large tug. The funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. IRONS on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock Rev. W. S. WOODHULL officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the Pentwater cemetery. =========================================================================== If you've reached this file through a SEARCH, you can access more of our growing collection of FREE online information by going to the following URL: http://www.us-data.org/ ===========================================================================
