              CAPTAIN WILLIAM SMITH, and old and well
            known lake captain, died at the residence
            of his son-in-law, D. A. BOELKINS, in
            Muskegon. MR. SMITH sailed the lakes for a
            number of years as captain of different
            vessels, but had latterly retired. He will
            be remembered by many as captain of the
            Minerva in her earlier years.
