ELIZABETH CASTENHOLZ The Muskegon Chronicle October 15, 1902 DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT, MRS. ELIZABETH CASTENHOLZ Mrs. Elizabeth Castenholz, widow of the late John Castenholz, Sr., expired suddenly at her home on Getty Avenue at 8 o'clock Monday evening. She died a moment after being stricken with apoplexy. She leaves five sons and one daughter--John, Henry, Nicholas, and William Castenholz of this city, Joseph Castenholz of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Barbara Laughray of Normal Park, Ill. She is also survived by a brother, Nicholas Weingartner, of Boltonville, Wis. Mrs. Castenholz was born December 12, 1834 near Lorraine, France. The family migrated to America when Mrs. Castenholz, then Elizabeth Weingartner was eight years of age. Afterward she removed to Pentwater and thirty-one years ago she and her husband located at the present Castenholz homestead in Muskegon. Her husband died in 1884 in September. Mrs. Castenholz was an active member of St. Mary's church. The funeral will be held Thursday." ======================================================================
