Cleveland and Sandusky City for the Western Seamen's Friend Society p. 72 DEATH OF CAPT. J. L. EDMUNDS. - The painful intelligence of the death of CAPT. J. L. EDMUNDS, of the steamer Southerner, was yesterday communicated by telegraph. CAPT. E. was in com- mand of his boat below and left Buffalo Saturday afternoon. After being out into the Lake about four hours, his sickness, which had previously been slight, became alarming, when the boat put back to Buffalo. The best medical assistance was provided, but under a severe attack of the billious cholic, he survived until Sunday morning, when he died. His remains left Buffalo in the afternoon for Monroe. CAPT. EDMUNDS has followed the Lakes for many years, and has had many friends in this city and the other ports who will mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate husband and father devoted to his business pursuits, who has thus suddenly been called from us. - Detroit Tribune, 2d inst.
