Thursday, June 15, 1882

        DIED - Miss LILLIAN M. SLATER died on
      Saturday evening, June 10, of malarial
      fever, aged 12 years.  She was the eldest
      daughter of Mr. and Mrs. THOMAS SLATER of
      this city.  Her life was begun for a noble
      and valuable christian character.  For
      several years she has given the evidence
      of an intelligent and growing christian.
      On the second day of April last she was
      received into the membership of the Presby-
      terian church and was the youngest upon
      the roll.  Her death cannot fail to be a
      gracious call to her companions, to begin
      early to do the great work of life, and
      to be ready for the call of the Master.
      Mr. and Mrs. SLATER and their family have
      the sympathies of a large circle of friends.
      The funeral was held at their residence in
      the Second ward on Sunday afternoon, June
      11, attended by a large congregation.
