Like a true sailor man "SCOTTIE" faced death bravely, keeping up his courage and behaving cheerfully to the end. Five years ago "SCOTTIE" MONROE came here with CAPTAIN PETER KILTY and took a berth as second mate on the big Pere Marquette carferry. Both men had been together on the Ann Arbor car- ferries and they remained together on the Pere Marquette until last spring when "SCOTTIE'S" failing health compelled him to quit work. He was 40 years old and a good sailor and genial and popular companion. He leaves a wife and child, the circumstances of death being made doubly sad on account of the maternal condi- tion of the former. The funeral was conducted by REV. THOS. H. J. COGHLAN at the house Tuesday afternoon. =========================================================================== If you've reached this file through a SEARCH, you can access more of our growing collection of FREE online information by going to the following URL: http://www.us-data.org/ ===========================================================================
