MILLER DEAD. JOHN A. MILLER died last Sunday at 1:35 p.m., at the advanced age of 80. On Tuesday evening the Masonic fra- ternity, of which he was a much re- spected member, met and arranged for the funeral services, which were held in Masonic Temple yesterday morning. The Masons assembled at the Tem- ple and marched to the residence and escorted the remains to the hall where the relatives and friends of deceased listened to a very spiritual address by Mr. Thompson, christian scientist, excellent music being fur- nished by a lady quartette. At the close of his remarks the Masons, members of Phoenix Hose Co. No. 1, mourners and friends accompanied the remains to the grave to be laid to rest in ac- cordance with Masonic usage. Deceased was a native of Milhau- sen, Germany, and was born in 1816. He imigrated to New York during his twentieth year, and soon after- wards settled in Pennsylvania. At the age of 29 he married a Pennsyl- vanian lady and subsequently moved to Almont, Mich., where she died, leaving a daughter, now MRS. FRAN- CISCO, of Lapeer county. In 1850 he married the present MRS. MILLER and leaves a family of three daughters and two sons to mourn his loss. They are MRS. D. M. THOMPSON and the Misses EVA and LILLIAN MILLER; ALDER- MAN HERMAN MILLER and JOHN MILLER. While yet a young man he joined the Masonic fraternity and has been a Master Mason 58 years. He was always republican in his political affiliations and cast his first vote for GENERAL HARRISON for president, vot- ing for the grandson, BENJAMIN, when he was chosen.
