XIV. OLD SERIES, NO. 33 VOL. I NEW SERIES, NO. 48 Mrs. PETERSON, a native of Sweedon, died at her son FRANK'S residence, last Tuesday morning. Mr. KANE, an old gentleman about 65 years old, died at the residence of his niece, of inflammation of the lungs. The funeral took place yesterday. [from an article about the diphtheria outbreak] The family of D. WHALEN, in Amber have suffered under its afflictive hand having lost one child during a week past. Mrs. WHALEN and another child are sick. THOS. McKEON, of the Fourth ward, lost a little girl, about six years of age, last Thursday evening. She was a strong, healthy child and leaves a sad void in the family circle. Two other are, it is hoped, slowly recovering. Little BIRDIE HUDSON, who we announced last week as recovering, died last Monday night. She was a few days less than ten years old.
