After attending school there, at the age of 15 he began his ma- rine career. For a number of years, he sailed on lower lake vessels, be- coming connected in about 1910 with the local carferry fleet. For the past 20 years he had al- ways sailed with Capt. Charles Robertson, with exception of in- tervals when he served as cap- tain of Str. 18. He was an ardent enthusiast of the out-of-doors and during his shore-leave greatly enjoyed the pastimes of fishing and hunting. The body was brought from Milwaukee aboard Carferry No. 32 Friday night, accompanied by Capt. Robertson, a sister-in- law Mrs. J. Arndt of Milwaukee, and his only daughter, Evelyn, who was with him at the time of his death. It was met here by a cortege from the local Benevo- lent and Protective Order of Elks, No. 736, of which he was a member. Remains were taken to the home, 703 West Ludington ave- nue this morning, where they will rest until hour of the serv- ices Monday. Interment will be in Pere Marquette cemetery. Mrs. Behm passed away at her home here five years ago. Survivors other than the daughter and sister-in-law are a sister, Mrs. Rose Campbell of Hollywood, Calif., and a half- brother, Math Marten of Utica, N.Y. Neither of the latter two will be able to be here. ===========================================================================
