GRAY. In September, 1995, George Wilson, daily columnist for the Ludington Daily News, got into a "Whatever happened to?" mode regarding the cemetery at the Poor Farm. Readers responded with the information that many of the paupers were taken to a potters field in Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington. This potters field is now adjacent to Cartier Park. Others were taken to a potters field next to Brookside Cemetery in Scottville. The "potters field" portion of this cemetery is now on a private farm. As of 1960 there were no headstones to be found at the old Poor Farm cemetery but depressions in the ground marked where graves may have been. Government officials investigated the site in 1960 but reportedly found no bodies there. =========================================================================== If you've reached this file through a SEARCH, you can access more of our growing collection of FREE online information by going to the following URL: http://www.us-data.org/ ===========================================================================
