Gutch of the steamer ARGUS, was found today at Amberly by searchers. The LAMBTON was to have gone for the body, but the fog was too heavy. --------------------------------------------------------- Subscriptions are Slow. Local subscriptions in aid of families rendered depen- dent following the recent gale on the Great Lakes are arriving slowly at the city hall. The amount today totaled $512. Mayor Allan stated that it was unlikely the city would contribute anything to the fund, as it was more a matter for private philanthropy than for public bodies. Hamilton received word this morning that the City of Toronto had donated $5000, and that the City of London had contributed $500. --------------------------------------------------------- ONTARIO GIVES TEN THOUSAND. Hon. J. J. Foy announced last evening that the provincial government had decided to subscribe $10,000 to the fund being collected for the widows and orphans of those who had perishes (sic) in the storms on the Great Lakes. ==========================================================================
