Since that time additional quantities of wreckage have come ashore on this side of the lake all the way from Pentwater to Manistee. Monday the body of one of the crew was washed ashore near Man- istee and was identified as that of Chris Keenan who had the boat in charge as a deputy United States mar- shall. Capt. Pugh of the local life saving station received a telegram from Me- nominee to patrol the beach in this vicinity in search of bodies from the Plymouth. This was done, but with- out result. It seems that the loss of the Ply- mouth was the only disaster of moment which occurred during the great storm on Lake Michigan. This veter- an tow barge with its convoy, the tug Martin, was caught in the great storm off Gull Island and deserted by the tug. It was stated that the tow line parted, but subsequently members of the Martin's crew declared that the line was cut. This statement has not been proved however. At any rate the Plymouth went down with all hands on board including Dept. U.S. Mar- shall Keenan of Menominee who was on board at the time. The other mem- bers of the crew were Kenry Kasok, James Sabota and E. Jansen all of Menominee, Alex Larsen of Marinette, Clyde Jessup of Grayling and one un- known sailor. --------------- Former Local Sailor Meets Death When Lightship No. 82 went down off Buffalo in the severe storm of ten days ago, she carried to his death Capt. Hugh Williams of Manistee, with his crew of six men. Capt. Williams was a former local resident, having lived on north James street about nine years ago. He was employed as wheelsman and second mate on the carferries at that time and is well known to local marine men, who were sorry indeed to learn of his tragic death. He had lately resided in Manistee, where he has a wife and family. ------------------ The lightkeeper at Big Point Sauble picked up some additional wreckage yesterday bearing the name Plymouth, giving further indication of the loss of that barge off Menominee ten days ago. =========================================================================== SOURCE: Ludington Daily News November 26, 1913
