W. Blodgett, Bay City, MI MASTER: ? TONNAGE: 708.90 gt, 673.46 nt DIMENSIONS: 179 x 34.66 x 13.16 CASUALTIES: None The CHARLES H. BRADLEY, with the MARY WOOLSON and MIZTEC in tow, were up-bound from Port Huron to Duluth, with salt. They ran into a storm just after passing Sturgeon point and the barges soon became unmanageable. The WOOLSON crashed into the BRADLEY and smashed her stern badly, the WOOLSON also being damaged. Captain Walter Neal, of the BRADLEY, kept the pumps going, but owing to the heavy sea and damaged condition of his craft, he was unable to lend much help to the WOOLSON. Wireless calls brought the steamer HURON to the scene and it was decided the HURON would under- take to tow the two barges to port. Before this could be accomplished the WOOLSON sunk. Later it was neces- sary to abandon the MIZTEC as well. Note: Capt. Walter Neal, of the CHARLES H. BRADLEY, was the sole survivor of the wreck of the steamer MYRON, off Whitefish Point, the year before. ======================================================================== Sources: Merchant Vessel List - 1895, 1918 Detroit Free Press - 20 July 1920 Port Huron Times Herald - 20 & 27 July 1920
