McColt or McKee TONNAGE: 97.75 gt DIMENSIONS: 86 x 21 x 8 CASUALTIES: 4 of 6 The LIZZIE THROOP was carrying a cargo of slabs from Muskegon to Chicago when she was hit by a squall. News reports of the day reported that she went on the pier at South Haven, MI., and went to pieces. Her wreckage was discovered in 2017 by members of the Michigan Shipwreck Research Association and the National Underwater Marine Agency while searching for Northwest Orient flight 2501.
