Buchanan TONNAGE: 439.33 gt DIMENSIONS: 159 x 30 x 12 CASUALTIES: 0 SURVIVORS: 8 Rebuilt in 1882 following Oct. 1881 collsion with the barge EDWARD KELLEY in tow of the steambarge OSCAR TOWNSEND on the St. Clair River. Repairs in 1887 & '89 On the morning of May 21, 1896, was bound to the Straits in dense fog. Passed the steamer W. H. GRATWICK with no difficulty but did not see her tow, the whaleback barge No. 133. The SUNRISE struck the towline and was struck on the starboard bow by the barge hard enough to carry away her bow.
