CLAIR was loaded with furs, potash, beeswax, cedar logs and elkhorns and began her journey to New York City via the recently finished Erie canal. Stopping at Buffalo he removed the spars and towed her to New York, partially reloaded in New York and sailed to Syracuse where he topped off with salt. ST.
