Stoddard TONNAGE: 1415 gt LENGTH: 238.66 ft BEAM: 34.75 ft DEPTH: 14 ft CASUALTIES: 18 (all) SURVIVORS: 0 29 Oct. 1871 - Caught fire while lying at anchor in Mud Lake St. Mary's River, and totally destroyed. She was valued at $75,000 and cargo $44,480. On first inspection was thought to be damaged to greatly to justify any rebuilding effort. Raised in 1873 and towed to Buffalo for rebuilding at the Union Dry Dock Company at a cost of $135,000. 13 Oct. 1893 - Left Toledo for Buffalo with a cargo of package freight and a storm blowing up. Sighted at about 4 p.m. by the lighthouse keeper at Erie, Penn., rolling heavily. Although several other vessels saw her in distress none could go to her assistance due to the severity of the storm. Thought to have sunk about midnight that night off Dunkirk, N.Y. with all hands. In the aftermath one man claimed to be a survivor of the sinking.
