MOORE, bound up, took a sheer, by reason of the wheel becoming clogged, and collided with the schooner J. S. RICHARDS, in the Detroit River, sinking the latter. The RICHARDS and the LAKE FOREST were being towed down the lakes by the tug CRESSELL at the time. She was loaded with pig iron at the time, which was salvaged. Her wreck was pulled onto the shoals at the foot of Belle Isle in hopes of raising and rebuilding her. It was found that the damage to her hull was damaged beyond repair.
