LENGTH: 169 ft BEAM: 28 ft DEPTH: 11 ft CASUALTIES: 5 SURVIVORS: 2 Cleared Toledo on November 28th loaded with mixed freight for Buffalo. Ran into a blinding snowstorm and went aground 4 - 5 miles west of Dunkirk. Five of the crew were lost when they attempted to make land and their boat capsized. On December 1 the TIOGA, from Buffalo, was sent to assist in freeing the OWEGO but she was found to be too far gone to be salvaged.
