Within moments of hearing that there was a schooner in distress the Ludington Coast Guard launched their 36-foot life boat into the teeth of the gale. Meanwhile, OUR SON had been spotted flying distress signals by the freighter WILLIAM NELSON. In a daring maneuver Capt. C. H. Mohr brought NELSON alongside the sinking schooner and took aboard her entire crew. ======================================================================== Sources: Ludington Daily News, 17 August 2002 Ludington Sunday Morning News, 28 September, 1930 Shelak, "Shipwrecks of Lake Michigan" - pp. 9 Merchant Vessel Lists - 1884, 1928, 1931 Buffalo Morning Express, 17 April 1900
