MASTER: Capt. Wm. J. Hayes (son-in-law of owner, James O'Connor) TONNAGE: 2,340 gt DIMENSIONS: 301 x 42.5 x 22.8 CASUALTIES: 1 of 21 (Samuel Crockard, of Buffalo, first mate.) Bound Buffalo to Milwaukee with 3,000 tons of coal. Fire was discovered in her forepeak at about 4 a.m. when off Cana Island, near the tip of Wisconsin's Door Peninsula. Her crew was rescued by the coast guard crew from Bailey's harbor. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
