                   Was in tow of the steamer LIZZIE MADDEN when fire
                 started in the boiler room. The MADDEN headed for
                 shore and beached the burning NOQUEBAY at Presque Isle
                 where she burned to the water's edge. Had been bound
                 for Bay City with 600,000 feet of lumber.
