CASUALTIES: 3 (Capt., wife & 1 sailor) SURVIVORS: 7 Rebuild in 1865 Bound from Erie, PA., to Milwaukee laden with hard coal when blown ashore sixteen miles south of Manistee. One sailor, Dennis Burke, perished attempting to reach shore. The captain and his wife perished from exposure while lashed to the mast. Remainder of the crew, reportedly seven, were rescued by Capt. Calloway, of the schooner TOLEDO, and volunteers who put out from Manistee in a boat.
