RIG TYPE: Fish tug, diesel powered, 36 HP HULL TYPE: Wooden BUILDER: Manitowoc, WI., - 1922 OWNER(S): Charles Jensen MASTER: (same) TONNAGE: 14 gt DIMENSIONS: 38.7 x 10.6 x 4 CASUALTIES: 2 SURVIVORS: 0 Charles Jensen had just purchased the MISTRESS from William DeYoung and was taking her to her new home in Milwaukee when she disappeared in a Lake Michigan storm. The MISTRESS left Pentwater harbor at 2 a.m. Monday, March 3, in clear weather on what should have only been an eight hour trip. About five hours later a gale lashed Lake Michigan with 45 mile an hour winds. Aboard the MISTRESS were Charles Jensen (owner) and H. Clair Graham, both of Milwaukee. When the MISTRESS failed to make port at Milwaukee on Tuesday the Coast Guard sent the cutters HOLLYHOCK, ESCANABA and a seaplane out in search of her. The MISTRESS was never found.
