                   Bound Manistee to Chicago with a cargo of laths
                when she caught fire.  All 16 of her crew and one passenger
                were rescued the the life-savers from Big Point Sable
                station.  Vessel scuttled to allow water into her but
                further attempts to stop the fire were unsuccessful.
