Pierson, Ferrysburg, MI - 1867 (rebuilt '72) OWNER(S): Clemens Reiss et al., Sheboygan MASTER: - TONNAGE: 148 gt LENGTH: 115 ft BEAM: 24.6 ft DEPTH: 7.9 ft CASUALTIES: 0 SURVIVORS: crew number not stated 8 October 1871 - Bound from Chicago to Detroit heavily loaded with grain, flour & other goods when she went on a rocky reef at Waugoshance Point knocking an 8 foot hole in her bottom. Lightered and refloated she was in tow of the wrecking tug LEVIATHAN when a severe storm set in. Tow line was cut when it became tangled in the LEVIATHAN'S wheel and the MASON capsized. She washed ashore and was reported a total loss but was recovered and rebuilt. Lost from the R. P. MASON were: Capt.
