                   Left Ludington at about 6 p.m. with 43,043 feet of
                elm lumber destined for a furniture factory in Manitowoc.
                when she began leaking about 2 hours out.  Signal torches
                were lit before the pair started for Ludington in the yawl
                boat. The Big Point Sable lifesaving crew saw the signal
                and met the yawl about half way out to the schooner, which
                later broke in two and drifted ashore at Epworth.
