TONNAGE: 3,351 gt DIMENSIONS: 386 x 44 x 26 CASUALTIES: None A fire of unknown origin ignited the Grand Trunk grain elevator at Port Huron and the flames, fanned by a high west wind, spread to the barge MAITLAND which was moored at the elevator wharf unloading her cargo of barley from Ft. William, Ont. Two tugs managed to get lines aboard her and towed her to a nearby coal dock where the fire was put out. She was abandoned to the underwriters the next day. Her burned hull was sold Canadian, to James Playfair; rebuilt and renamed GLENBOGIE. Scrapped in 1966 Her 1902 launch date was delayed as the WILKESBARRE was occupying the dock having large repairs done after going aground on Caribou Island, Lake Superior. She was finally launched July 10, 1902.
