                    Rebuild at Erie, PA., in 1879 increased her gross
                    tonnage to 645.65.

                    Extensive repairs at Chicago in 1883.

                    Loaded with iron-ore from Marquette when she wandered
                    off course in a dense fog and ran ashore west of Au
                    Sable Point.  Salvage attempts went on for several
                    weeks before the insurance company gave up.  Wreckers
                    recovered much of her machinery and cargo before a fall
                    storm destroyed her.
