OWNER(S): Capt. Wm. S. Mack, Cleveland, OH., et al. MASTER: Capt. Peter Girard, Cleveland TONNAGE: 742 gt DIMENSIONS: 190.9 x 35.4 x 12.9 CASUALTIES: 5 of 7 (including Capt. Girard, Mate Ed Bostick, of Whitebrook, MI., German sailor John Pape., cook Mrs. Hall.) The IRONTON and the schooner-barge MOONLIGHT were in tow of the steamer C. J. KERSHAW, upbound from Ashtabula to Marquette, MI. The steamer's engine broke down in heavy seas with a heavy south gale blowing. The schooner barges threw off their tow lines anddrifted apart as the IRONTON crew began setting sails and getting in the tow line. until she collied with the downbound propeller OHIO, cutting the OHIO to the water's edge abreast of the boiler house and caving in her own bow. Two survivors were Wm. Woolley, donkeyman, of Port Dover, Ont., and W. W.
