Schuler Becker TONNAGE: 256 LENGTH: 146 ft. BEAM: 26 ft DEPTH: 11 ft CASUALTIES: - (some sources say 1, the cook) SURVIVORS: 6 1869 - Damaged by collision at Chicago, $1000. 3 Oct 1871 - Collided with schooner MONTEZUMA off Saginaw in Lake Huron. Montezuma sunk & total loss. Nov 1874 - Ashore at Sturgeon Pt., Lake Erie. Extensive damage to bottom. Repaired. 16 Nov 1879 - En route from Port Huron to Oswegon with 271,000 ft of lumber. Became water-logged in a gale and refused to mind her helm. While attempting to make Oswego harbor went ashore in the angle of the pier, close to the lighthouse, and went to pieces. Crew rescued by the crew of the Oswego life-saving station, Capt. Blackburn. At this time the schooner was rated B-1, and not insurable.
