DIMENSIONS: 109 x 24 x 10 CASUALTIES: 1 SURVIVORS: 5 5 Oct. 1877 - Towed into Manitowoc in a water-logged condition. 16 Oct. 1880 - Ran high on the beach about 1/4 mile north of the pier at Ludington while attempting to make harbor during a gale. Taken off in April the following year. 24 Nov. 1882 - Left Manistee with the J. O. MOSS on the 23rd, both carrying shingles for Chicago. Set upon by a sudden squall accompanied by blinding snow. The crew took to the rigging as the ECLIPSE filled with water and sunk beneath them. Rescued by the life- saving crew after clinging to the rigging for 15 hours. The life-saving crew had been occupied with saving the crew of the J. O. MOSS until that time. The lone fatality of the ECLIPSE was 24 year old Anton Rasmussen, of Chicago, who attempted to make shore on a make-shift raft.
