TONNAGE: 57 gt DIMENSIONS: 74 x 17 x 8 CASUALTIES: none The CROWELL and tug T. T. MORFORD were going to the relief of the steamer F. W. WHEELER, ashore at Michigan City, in a heavy northwest gale when the CROWELL sprung a leak and went down. Her crew was taken off by the MORFORD. Fishermen from Michigan City went to the Dunham Co., in the winter of 1893-'94 claiming that they new exactly where the CROWELL was but, despite an exhaustive search of the area, the CROWELL was not found and the search abandoned in early July, 1895.
