Bottsford, Port Huron MASTER: ? TONNAGE: 1470.55 gt DIMENSIONS: 254.6 x 35 x 13 CASUALTIES: 0 SURVIVORS: not stated Bound Duluth to Port Huron with flour when she ran into almost every sort of vile nastiness that Lake Superior has to offer. Smoke from an "unknown source," dense fog and a northwest gale served to blind her, shake her about and cast her upon the notoriously dangerous reef at Eagle River where she rested right on top of the wreck of the steamer H. S. PICKANDS which had wrecked there in 1894. After three days of lightering her cargo the COLORADO broke up and became a total loss. ======================================================================== Sources: Annual Report of the U.S.L.S.S., 1900 Merchant Vessel List, 1885 The Milwaukee Journal, 19 September 1898 Buffalo Evening News, 27 October 1910 Last updated 5 January 2015
