Chamberlain, Duluth, MN TONNAGE: 5,531 gt DIMENSIONS: 468.2 x 42 x 28 CASUALTIES: 24 [all] Upbound with coal from Lorain, OH., for Superior, WI., on her final run of the season when she ran straight into a blinding snowstorm accompanied by vicious winds after leaving the shelter of Whitefish Bay. She was last seen by the steamer J. J. H. BROWN before rounding Whitefish Point and disappearing. Concerns for the safety of ship and crew were felt by her owners when she didn't arrive at Superior. Tugs were dispatched to patrol the north shore of Lake Superior from Port Arthur to the Soo, and from there to Isle Royale.
