By 1886 her center mast had been removed and she was being used as a tow barge. On 23 March 1923 the BRIGHTIE was bound for Muskegon loaded with pulpwood, in tow of the steamer C. H. BRADLEY, when she began taking on water near Little Sable Point and foundered off Whitehall, MI.
