The ACME was picking a passage through the ice floes when she ran into a big clamper. The tug tried to back off but was held tight as the WILKESBARRE, unable to stop, struck the ACME upon the port quarter and rolled her over. Hope for recovering her was given up in August when divers reported her to be a total wreck.
