This vessel was equipped with a fog- bell, so that the location of the vessel could be deter- mined in the event of fog closing in and shutting the lightship from view. This service was maintained until the close of the season, all expenses connected therewith being paid by our Association. A light was established by the Association to mark the wreck of the steamer City of London, October 2nd, and maintained until October 23rd, at our expense, when it was taken over by the Canadian Government and con- tinued throughout the season. During the storm of November 9, the Steamer Charles S. Price was wrecked on Lake Huron, about eleven miles north of Fort Gratiot Light. This vessel "turned turtle" and its hull floated for several days bottom side up, its identity unknown, and was a serious menace to other vessels as it was directly on the course of navigation. Notwithstanding the continued high seas which were running, the Association chartered a tug to stand by this wreck to warn vessels of the danger, and with the exception of such periods as the Government assigned the Revenue Cutter Morrill to this service, maintained at its own expense the service of the tug for the bene- fit of all vessels navigating in the vicinity, until November 16th. ===========================================================================
