DANIEL LANGAN and Six Others Lost. News was received yesterday morning confirming the report that the vessel wrecked off Port Rowan was the schooner E. Fitzgerald. Her entire crew of seven men was lost in attempting to reach the shore. The names of those on board are unknown here with the exception of CAPT. DANIEL LANGAN, who was a prominent and highly respected vessel captain. His brother, CAPT. MORRIS LANGAN, of the schooner J. G. Masten, left for Port Rowan yesterday afternoon to search for the body. CAPT. DANIEL LANGAN was the youngest of the three brothers, all of whom have been on the lakes for years. He was born at Kingston, Ont., and was 32 years of age. He began life as a miller, but left that occupation nine years ago, and sailed with his brothers until July, 1882, when he assumed command of the schooner with which he lost his life. May 3 of this year he ran the reef off Point au Pelee in company with the schooners Everleigh and Corsican. His vessel was released without much difficulty, while the others were badly wrecked. The deceased was to have been married the coming winter. He was the sole support of a widowed mother and sister, who reside on Wolf Island, Lake Ontario. The Fitzgerald was owned by Haley, of Buffalo. She was built in 1870, measured 298 tons, and was rated A2. She was valued at $11,000, and insured for $8,000 in the Boston Marine. ==========================================================================
