In entering the channel, she struck the pier, breaking a paddle off one of the wheels, and forcing the wheel somewhat out of position. The injury was not so serious as to prevent her proceeding on her trip, after a short delay; but she was delayed at Grand Haven two days for re- pairs. The MESSENGER took twelve to fifteen passengers for the east on her trip to Pentwater, Tuesday last. Ten of them were from the west by morning train. As this route becomes more generally known and justly appreciated by the traveling public, it will become the favorite transit route for Central and Northwestern Wisconsin. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Pentwater News Pentwater, Michigan July 12, 1872 [Marine extracts] Capt.
