FRIDAY, JANUARY 26, 1872 VOLUME II, NUMBER 54. [extracted maritime records] Along The Shore - Grand Haven . . . The Engelmann Transportation Co. are so overdone with business that much freight is considerably delayed. Several new propellers are now in course of construction and will be ready in time to accommodate the increased trade which will result from the direct connection with the Pennsylvania Central R. R. New Line of Steamers As we mentioned in last evening's Wisconsin, J. F. Joy, the rail- road king of Michigan, visited our city Thursday last. Since then we learn that he was here on a prospecting tour. It is well known that Mr. Joy owns a controlling interest in the Sheboygan and Fond du Lac road, which road will eventually be pushed through to the western part of the state, so as to connect with the West Wisconsin Railroad, and thus secure some of the trade from Saint Paul. In the spring of the present year, this road, in which Mr. Joy is interested, will put on boats between this city and Sheboygan, to run from thence to Pentwater on the East Shore, and from thence to Grand Haven, there connecting with the Michigan railroads. This gives Milwaukee another line of steamers to the north and another means of communication with the East Shore. - Mil.
