XII No. 18 Local Matters ------------- - Capt. Muhr, under the medical treatment of Dr. Dundass and McConnell is fast improving. - On account of the ice the MENOMINEE could not get from the elevator to Allen's dock, on Tuesday, to discharge her local freight and take on wood. - The unloading of the MENOMINEE was not completed until Tuesday morning. The heavy west wind that blew during Sunday and Monday had a very "bothering" effect on the "Marine log" of the elevator. - Capt. Larkin, who has been an employee of Jesse Hoy* for the past 25 years, having command of a large grain vessel plying between Chicago and Buffalo, now has charge of the elevator since Capt. Muhr was injured. - The elevator still contains grain received on the 26th of December. The wheat is to be shipped over the Canada Southern; but that road is blocked up with snow, and cars cannot be obtained and brought here to carry it away. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ MASON COUNTY RECORD, Ludington, Michigan Friday, January 10th, 1879 VOL.
