XIV. OLD SERIES, NO. 52 VOL. II NEW SERIES, NO. 15 Ed. C. Mitchell returned last week from being harbor inspector at Saugatuck. He will be inspector at this point during the remainder of the season, and will superintend the dredging of the channel. The dredge arrived here last Saturday and will deepen the channel to thirteen feet of water. Mr. Duncan Dewar has contracted with the government to deliver one thousand cords of edgings at Portage lake. He has purchased a half interest in the tug FANNY SHRIVER at Manistee and will use the boat this fall, towing edgings from Manistee to Portage lake. The body of a woman picked up in the bay at East Tawas is identified as that of Miss Hinckley, lost off steamer METROPOLIS. ===========================================================================
