MASTER: Capt. Albert L. Anderson TONNAGE: 1,439 gt LENGTH: 246.75 ft. BEAM: 38 ft. DEPTH: 17.75 ft. CASUALTIES: 25 SURVIVORS: 0 Built for the Lake Superior Iron Company. At launch measured 266.75x33x23 of 1573 gt. She was converted to a self unloader and shortened in 1921, at the Great Lakes Engineering Works, Detroit, MI., giving the measurements above at time of loss. Under charter to the Construction Materials Company of Chicago was lost with all hands during a strong gale while enroute to that place from Grand Haven, Michigan, loaded with gravel. The Construction Matierials Company came under harsh criticism when they failed to report the Andaste as missing until she was 24 hours overdue.
