By an Act passed April 2, 1811, "the occupancy and use of certain lands near Presqu'ile, not less than two or more than four acres are ceded to the United States, for the purpose of erecting a lighthouse." The "Presque'ile" light was rebuilt in 1857. - J.H. Beers & Co. 1899 According to "The Northern Lights", the first was a tower attached to a mess-house at Ft.
