Funeral Sunday Afternoon in Royalton Under Masonic Auspices. Capt. RILEY PHILLIPS died at his home in this city Thursday, aged 72 years. He was captain of the sailing vessels Cora and Addie, sailed on the Jay Gould in the grain trade between Chicago and Buffalo and was with the Goodrich line several years. He was also with Captain NAPIER on the Comet and Corunna, was captain of the Van Raalte and St. Joseph on the Edwards line, and of the barge Skylark, the first boat on the Graham & Morton line, and was with this company until three years ago, when his health failed. He was second mate on the Chicora at one time, also on the City of Chicago. Captain PHILLIPS was born in New York, but had lived in Benton Harbor 65 years and has sailed on the lakes since he was fourteen years old. He lived at 523 Pipestone street, where the funeral services took place at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. W. I. COGSHALL officiating.
