The boiler in the steam saw-mill of Loaver & Lowrey, at Moline, near Grand Rapids, exploded on the 5th, destroying the mill, killing three men instantly, and fearfully wounding several others. MR. JAMES LOAVER, one of the proprietors, had his head and legs blown off and carried some distance from his body. LEVI STAUFFER, engineer, and FRED HUFF, in the employ of Berkey Bros. & Gay as a log scaler, were also injured seriously by the falling of the smoke stack; BIGELOW JEFFERD, badly scalded and burned; DAVID GRANBY, mortally wounded by scalding steam, and ABRAHAM HACKETT, fearfully burned. MR. HUFF's head was blown off and carried with half of the steam boiler about fifteen rods from the mill. MR. STAUFFER was a poor man, and he has left a wife and six children.
