           J. E. FAIR, treasurer of Alcona County, is a native of Ann
        Arbor, Mich., and was educated at the Normal School at Ypsilanti,
        where he graduated in 1872. He followed teaching in Ypsilanti and
        De Witt until 1879, when he came to Harrisville and taught in the
        village two years. In the Fall of 1881 he was appointed county
        treasurer to fill a vacancy, and the following year was elected to
        the same office. He has a wife and one child. MR. FAIR met with
        marked success as a teacher, and is well qualified for the duties
        of public office.
